Special Education Needs

Special Educational Needs is the term used when a child has greater difficulty learning than most other children of a similar age. For about one in five children this will only be temporary, for example, difficulties with reading, writing or speaking, and can be overcome with a little extra help. For about 2% of children the difficulties might be longer term, and in these cases it might be necessary to complete a statutory assessment which can result in a Statement of Special Educational Needs. This section aims to signpost you on where to go for support for this process.
