| What We Do: |
[sonus], the working title for Hampshire Deaf Association, are providing a new and exciting service for deaf children aged 5-11 to help them access activities within their local communities. Many deaf children are excluded from taking part in activities such as brownies, swimming, karate etc. which their hearing friends or siblings go to, because of a lack of communication support or general awareness from providers of how to include deaf children. [sonus] plans to provide a Community Support Worker and a British Sign Language Intepreter to go along with the child and work alongside providers to enable them to offer the necessary on-going support. |
